I haven’t posted at all since I got the new job, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped taking pictures! It’s hard to picture the days before the triple digits, but here are a few captures from this past spring’s breezes & showers.

The boots aren't much help. He spent about 30 minutes in this puddle and was pretty soaked head to toe.

I converted a crayola art table into a small standing sandbox for temporary use, until we get our act together & build a real one in the yard. works for isaac, between this and the giant dirt mounds the moles make in the yard.

trip up to kansas city

Back in March Isaac and I rode up to Kansas City to visit my parents. Isaac had so much fun he didn’t want to leave. He ate a record number of waffles at grandpa’s house, and was exuberant over loads of toys from grammy’s, many of which he got to bring back home. Despite the cold and even snowy (!) weather we had a blast.

Isaac finds his inner hippie, poses for a Horizon Organic Vanilla Milk ad (have you tried this stuff? it tastes like a milkshake!! he always asks for vanilla milk now), and takes care of business (or is he calling home to say ‘hey mom don’t wait up, I’ll be home late’?) at the recent Easter Island music festival.

Just a few photos from Isaac’s birthday celebration yesterday. He insisted on opening presents first, and though he really enjoyed playing with them all later he questioned a few boxes wrapped with Disney Cars paper, upon opening them: “No cars in there?!?” He ate two giant pieces of homemade grilled pizza, followed by lots of candy decorations from the cake (he had no hesitation dipping in as soon as it was on the table in front of him) and a big piece of cake. With a Thomas shirt and Thomas cake, some rides on his new Big Wheel tricycle, and good weather, I’m pretty sure he was walking on Cloud 9 (or should I say, cloud 2?).

A busy day for Isaac: squeezing 8 oz of play dough into a 2 oz cup, drying his tresses in the breeze, and hauling some blocks from the barn to the fish pond.

A few pics from the winter blizzard early February. We spent a lot of time inside, so Isaac helped with some baking with muffins and a big batch of play dough. One day we went out to play (and shovel, and shovel…) after it warmed up a bit, and even made snowcones with homemade syrup. Isaac thought they were too cold to eat though. Inside he stayed nice and cozy in his moose jammies – thanks uncle tom!

We had 2 freak sunny, warm spring days in the upper 60s, right smack in the middle of winter last friday and saturday. We went bike riding on friday. Saturday Isaac and I went to Safari’s Wildlife Sanctuary (just at the end of our street) to watch 2 lions in a roaring match, feed a camel (his favorite), pet a wolf and alligator, and all sorts of fun. Brad smoked some meat on the grill and then we washed the truck while Isaac did some serious dirt hauling.

We had some visitors in December, our old neighbors who have since moved to W Virginia. Dawn and Ralph came with their son and daughter Ceri (& her husband Jake) who has a little girl Cambria, just a bit younger than Isaac. They had a grand time playing together, bathing together, fighting over toys (and then making up with kisses), and just being best buds.
